Parco Murgia Festival

Art, music, excursions, guided tours and tastings enliven the rich calendar of the Murgia Festival Park.
Among pleasant forays into the centuries-old traditions of this territory, full of rock testimonies, there is the review of cultural, musical and naturalistic events in the territory of the Murgia Materana.

The calendar of events always rich and varied, includes art, parties, music, excursions, trekking, training seminars, photography and tasty tastings.

The Matera Murgia Park Authority announces the launch of the 2014 Murgia Festival Park. Below are the scheduled appointments starting on Sunday 18 May.

Sunday 18 May Trekking From Matera to Montescaglioso following the ancient sheep track Departure from Matera, Piazza S. Agnese, 9.30 am With Luigi Esposito, Franco Caputo, Angelo Lospinuso Enrollment of the Park Authority by Friday 16 May 12 pm Route along the edge of the Gravina with stops and visits to Cristo la Selva, ford Passarelli, rock churches of the Loe valley. Last stretch along the royal cattle track of Montescaglioso and conclusion in the Benedictine abbey of S. Michele Arcangelo. By CEA Montescaglioso. Participation fee € 10.00. 22 – 25 May: Celebrations in honor of the Madonna delle Vergini, patroness of the Murgia Materana park

Thursday 29 – Friday 30 May Matera and Montescaglioso Small Guides of the Murgia Materana Park (students of the “Padre Giovanni Minozzi” Primary School Comprehensive School, “Nicola Festa” Secondary School and “Salinari” Comprehensive School of Montescaglioso) lead the students of the Basilicata schools along the paths of the Sassi and the Park. Project “The Small Park Guides” is part of the Strategic Program 2010/2013 – EPOS – for Education and Promotion of Sustainability, the Ceas of Matera and Montescaglioso are involved.
